Can you lease a used Hyundai?
Yes. Second Life Leasing offers pre-leased Hyundai cars for personal and business leasing in the UK, with full maintenance and premium replacement tyres included. Browse our current Hyundai stock and compare the particular electric or hybrid versions available.
You choose a specific car with its own photographs, specification and recorded mileage. Pay an initial rental followed by monthly rentals, then return the car at the agreed end. Applications are subject to approval.
Where does my Hyundai come from?
Second Life Leasing’s Hyundai cars come directly from Lex Autolease, part of Lloyds Banking Group, after their first lease. Lex continues to own the car and offers it for another lease. We help you choose and arrange it; your hire agreement is with Lex Autolease.
A first lease with a known history
Lex bought the car from new and managed its first lease, with agreed mileage, servicing and return standards. That gives your next Hyundai a known leasing history. The individual listing and vehicle information tell you about the particular car you are considering.
Safety checks and preparation
Each car goes through safety checks and preparation for its next driver. It is still a used car, and we will highlight known minor cosmetic imperfections before you decide, so you can picture what will arrive.
What are the current Hyundai lease prices?
The car you choose, contract term, annual mileage and payment profile all affect the rental. Compare the initial payment as well as the monthly figure when deciding what fits your budget.

Which Hyundai model and version should you choose?
Original Ioniq Electric: a lower hatchback
The original Ioniq Electric is the lower five-door hatchback to consider if you prefer a familiar car shape to an SUV. It is a different model from the Ioniq 5 and Ioniq 6, despite sharing the name. For a commute or regular local journey, compare its seating, rear hatch and battery specification with the larger alternatives before assuming that newer must suit you better.
Hyundai’s 2019 UK update introduced the 38.3kWh battery and 100kW motor used in the later Ioniq Electric. Its charging specification needs checking separately from the later Ioniq models; the shared name is not evidence of shared hardware.
Kona Electric: two generations to distinguish
The Kona Electric is worth a look if you want a more upright compact-car shape. Earlier 64kWh cars and the later 65.4kWh generation should be treated as different comparisons. The earlier UK range and 2023 second-generation introduction explain that change.
The newer body is larger, so compare rear-seat room and luggage access as well as the battery number. If the appeal is a car that fits comfortably in a restricted parking space, measure the actual generation rather than using today’s dimensions for an earlier Kona.
Ioniq 5: space and a flexible rear-seat arrangement
The Ioniq 5 is the electric hatchback to compare when the original Ioniq or Kona feels too compact. Its sliding rear seat lets you adjust the balance between passenger and luggage space. Hyundai’s original UK specification covers the 58kWh rear-wheel-drive car, including that seating arrangement.
That earlier 58kWh version needs judging on its own battery and charging specification, rather than figures for a later large-battery Ioniq 5. When carrying children or taller adults, set the front seats first, then try the rear bench in a position that leaves enough boot space for your usual load.
Ioniq 6: a saloon alternative
The Ioniq 6 gives you a lower saloon body in place of the Ioniq 5’s hatchback shape. It is worth comparing for drivers who prefer that seating position and do not need a large rear hatch. Try the boot opening with bulky luggage and check rear headroom for your passengers.
The original UK range included rear-wheel-drive and all-wheel-drive versions with the long-range battery. An Ultimate AWD car should be compared with its own specification, rather than a range figure for a different drive layout or wheel size.
Tucson Plug-in Hybrid: an SUV with petrol and electric power
The Tucson Plug-in Hybrid is the option to consider if you want a rechargeable SUV with petrol available for longer journeys. The early version combines a 1.6-litre petrol engine with an electric motor and four-wheel drive, as described in Hyundai’s UK launch information. Regular charging is central to making use of its electric capability. It is a different proposition from a battery-electric Kona or Ioniq, and also from a Tucson hybrid that cannot be plugged in.
Choose the equipment you will use
For Hyundai, distinguish a trim name such as Premium or Ultimate from the powertrain. Check the individual car’s seat adjustment, cameras, parking aids and phone connection, then any heat pump or vehicle-to-load equipment you want. Do not assume those features are present simply because another Ioniq or Kona generation offers them.
Equipment and charging specifications can change during production. Confirm the manufacturer’s specification, fitted options, cables and any connected-service subscriptions for the actual car before ordering; registration year and trim name alone do not tell the whole story.

What comes with my Hyundai lease?
Second Life Leasing’s full maintenance package brings the routine upkeep into your lease, helping you plan for more than the rental alone.
Servicing, maintenance and premium replacement tyres
Servicing, maintenance, replacement tyres and MOT when required are included. Replacement tyres are premium brands, with mobile fitting where possible. Collection and return for servicing and maintenance are included, subject to limitations.
Breakdown cover and road fund tax
Breakdown cover includes a replacement vehicle for up to 48 hours if needed, plus cover for driving abroad. Check the overseas arrangements with Lex before travelling. Road fund tax is included for the duration of your lease.
Online support
The Lex Vehicle Leasing app gives you a way to book servicing, request support and find your contract documents. Use the lease company’s support route for your maintained agreement.
What do I pay for separately?
Allow for insurance and fuel or charging. Your quote and agreement also explain applicable fees and contract charges, including excess mileage and damage charges. Included maintenance helps with budgeting without making every motoring cost fixed.
What happens if my Hyundai develops a fault?
Contact Lex Autolease through its support process. Under Second Life Leasing’s full maintenance offering, Lex arranges covered repairs in line with your agreement, so you have a clear route to getting help.
Does the manufacturer’s warranty matter?
Where a manufacturer’s warranty applies, Lex handles the claim behind the scenes. Your repair support follows the maintained lease agreement; you do not need to work out the remaining manufacturer’s warranty before reporting a problem.
What about an electric Hyundai’s battery?
Our pre-leased battery-electric Hyundai cars come with a guaranteed minimum battery condition of 85% at delivery. That is a delivery baseline, rather than a guarantee throughout the lease or a promise of a particular driving range.
Can I choose the term and mileage?
Yes. Each car’s listing shows its available contract terms, annual mileage allowances and payment profiles. Choose mileage around your normal year, including commuting, business journeys and holidays.
The payment profile determines how much you pay initially and in subsequent rentals. Choose a term you are comfortable committing to, and review the agreement’s provisions and charges for changing or ending it early.
Personal or business leasing?
You can apply for Personal Contract Hire in your own name or Business Contract Hire for your business. The live examples in this guide are personal rentals including VAT, even if you are browsing in Business mode. Select Business to explore business prices on the stock pages, or ask us for the appropriate quote.
Why choose a pre-leased Hyundai?
More of the car you want within your budget
Hyundai gives you a choice of lower electric cars, upright crossovers and a plug-in hybrid SUV, with useful differences in access and luggage space. A pre-leased Hyundai has already been through its initial depreciation. Leasing it at its used value can mean a lower rental than leasing new, with the individual quote showing what that means for your chosen car. You can put the rental alongside your other regular costs and decide whether the whole package works for you.
Giving an electric Hyundai another lease of life
Choosing a pre-leased battery-electric Hyundai keeps an existing car and its battery in use. Battery-electric Hyundai cars produce no tailpipe emissions while driving. Manufacturing and charging electricity still contribute to their overall footprint.
UK government guidance explains that a typical electric car has lower lifetime greenhouse-gas emissions than an equivalent petrol car, including battery production and disposal. That is general EV evidence, rather than a measured saving for an individual used Hyundai.
A scheduled return without finding a buyer
At the agreed end, return the Hyundai subject to the mileage and condition terms. Lex owns and resells it and takes the resale-value risk. You can choose your next car without arranging a private sale or negotiating a part-exchange.
