The Complete Guide to Leasing a Used Kia

Can you lease a used Kia?

Yes. Second Life Leasing offers pre-leased Kia cars for personal and business leasing in the UK, with full maintenance and premium replacement tyres included. Explore our current Kia stock, checking the exact powertrain and equipment for each available car.

You choose a specific car with its own photographs, specification and recorded mileage. Pay an initial rental followed by monthly rentals, then return the car at the agreed end. Applications are subject to approval.

Where does my Kia come from?

Second Life Leasing’s Kia cars come directly from Lex Autolease, part of Lloyds Banking Group, after their first lease. Lex continues to own the car and offers it for another lease. We help you choose and arrange it; your hire agreement is with Lex Autolease.

A first lease with a known history

Lex bought the car from new and managed its first lease, with agreed mileage, servicing and return standards. That gives your next Kia a known leasing history. The individual listing and vehicle information tell you about the particular car you are considering.

Safety checks and preparation

Each car goes through safety checks and preparation for its next driver. It is still a used car, and we will highlight known minor cosmetic imperfections before you decide, so you can picture what will arrive.

What are the current Kia lease prices?

The car you choose, contract term, annual mileage and payment profile all affect the rental. Compare the initial payment as well as the monthly figure when deciding what fits your budget.

Explore our latest pre-leased Kia stock below, with live lease prices. Open a listing for the car’s photographs, specification and available lease options.

Which Kia model and version should you choose?

EV6: the dedicated electric crossover

The EV6 is the starting point if you want a battery-electric Kia with a lower, more swept-back crossover body. Compare the rear-seat access, driving position and luggage opening with the more upright Niro before choosing by appearance alone. If taller passengers travel regularly, check their space with the front seats set for your normal driver.

The original UK range pairs the 77.4kWh battery with rear-wheel-drive and all-wheel-drive choices. GT-Line and GT-Line S are equipment grades; neither name, by itself, means the separate high-performance EV6 GT. Kia’s original UK grades guide makes those distinctions. Compare the actual car’s drive layout, wheels and equipment. Later EV6 battery upgrades do not describe these earlier cars.

Niro: distinguish the hybrid from the fully electric car

The Niro is worth comparing if a more upright compact crossover suits your journeys. A Niro Hybrid combines petrol and electric power without an external charging plug. A Niro EV is battery-electric and needs charging. That difference matters much more to everyday use than whether the trim is called 2 or 4.

The second-generation Niro arrived during 2022; the electric version uses the Niro EV name in place of the earlier e-Niro. Kia’s 2022 generation announcement explains the change, while its UK specification separates the powertrains. Around that changeover, use photographs and the specific vehicle details to identify the generation rather than the registration date alone.

Sportage: a family SUV with several kinds of hybrid

The Sportage gives you a more conventional family-SUV shape. Compare it when rear-door access, child-seat space and luggage loading take priority. Check the boot specification for the actual powertrain, because hybrid components and vehicle generations can change the available space.

Earlier 1.6 CRDi mild hybrids are diesel cars with electrical assistance, not plug-in cars; Kia’s 2020 UK specification covers that version. The newer Sportage range also includes petrol mild hybrids and a separate plug-in hybrid. Do not treat the word “hybrid” as confirmation that a car can be plugged in or driven for the same distance on electric power.

Sportage Plug-in Hybrid: make charging part of the choice

The Sportage PHEV combines a 1.6 T-GDi petrol engine with a rechargeable battery and electric motor. Kia’s European introduction describes that system. It is worth considering if you want electric capability for local journeys and petrol available for longer trips. Compare the actual AWD car’s specification and equipment, then think about how regularly you can charge it. A convenient charging routine is the practical reason to choose a plug-in version.

Choose the equipment you will use

For Kia, read GT-Line, GT-Line S and numbered trims alongside the model and production period. Check the seats, camera system, heated features and any heat pump or vehicle-to-load equipment individually. A GT-Line badge on a Sportage and one on an EV6 do not describe the same equipment package.

Equipment and charging specifications can change during production. Confirm the manufacturer’s specification, fitted options, cables and any connected-service subscriptions for the actual car before ordering; registration year and trim name alone do not tell the whole story.

What comes with my Kia lease?

Second Life Leasing’s full maintenance package brings the routine upkeep into your lease, helping you plan for more than the rental alone.

Servicing, maintenance and premium replacement tyres

Servicing, maintenance, replacement tyres and MOT when required are included. Replacement tyres are premium brands, with mobile fitting where possible. Collection and return for servicing and maintenance are included, subject to limitations.

Breakdown cover and road fund tax

Breakdown cover includes a replacement vehicle for up to 48 hours if needed, plus cover for driving abroad. Check the overseas arrangements with Lex before travelling. Road fund tax is included for the duration of your lease.

Online support

The Lex Vehicle Leasing app gives you a way to book servicing, request support and find your contract documents. Use the lease company’s support route for your maintained agreement.

What do I pay for separately?

Allow for insurance and fuel or charging. Your quote and agreement also explain applicable fees and contract charges, including excess mileage and damage charges. Included maintenance helps with budgeting without making every motoring cost fixed.

What happens if my Kia develops a fault?

Contact Lex Autolease through its support process. Under Second Life Leasing’s full maintenance offering, Lex arranges covered repairs in line with your agreement, so you have a clear route to getting help.

Does the manufacturer’s warranty matter?

Where a manufacturer’s warranty applies, Lex handles the claim behind the scenes. Your repair support follows the maintained lease agreement; you do not need to work out the remaining manufacturer’s warranty before reporting a problem.

What about an electric Kia’s battery?

Our pre-leased battery-electric Kia cars come with a guaranteed minimum battery condition of 85% at delivery. That is a delivery baseline, rather than a guarantee throughout the lease or a promise of a particular driving range.

Can I choose the term and mileage?

Yes. Each car’s listing shows its available contract terms, annual mileage allowances and payment profiles. Choose mileage around your normal year, including commuting, business journeys and holidays.

The payment profile determines how much you pay initially and in subsequent rentals. Choose a term you are comfortable committing to, and review the agreement’s provisions and charges for changing or ending it early.

Personal or business leasing?

You can apply for Personal Contract Hire in your own name or Business Contract Hire for your business. The live examples in this guide are personal rentals including VAT, even if you are browsing in Business mode. Select Business to explore business prices on the stock pages, or ask us for the appropriate quote.

Why choose a pre-leased Kia?

More of the car you want within your budget

Kia offers several ways to match the car to your charging routine, from a full hybrid Niro to a battery-electric EV6 or a plug-in Sportage. A pre-leased Kia has already been through its initial depreciation. Leasing it at its used value can mean a lower rental than leasing new, with the individual quote showing what that means for your chosen car. You can put the rental alongside your other regular costs and decide whether the whole package works for you.

Giving an electric Kia another lease of life

Choosing a pre-leased battery-electric Kia keeps an existing car and its battery in use. Battery-electric Kia cars produce no tailpipe emissions while driving. Manufacturing and charging electricity still contribute to their overall footprint.

UK government guidance explains that a typical electric car has lower lifetime greenhouse-gas emissions than an equivalent petrol car, including battery production and disposal. That is general EV evidence, rather than a measured saving for an individual used Kia.

A scheduled return without finding a buyer

At the agreed end, return the Kia subject to the mileage and condition terms. Lex owns and resells it and takes the resale-value risk. You can choose your next car without arranging a private sale or negotiating a part-exchange.

How do I arrange my Kia lease?

  1. Tell us which Kia interests you. We will help you choose from the available cars and confirm the details that matter to you.
  2. Review your quote. We will place a temporary reservation while you look through the figures.
  3. Complete the paperwork online. We will guide you through the credit application and your agreement with Lex Autolease.
  4. Take delivery. Once your application is approved and the car is ready, we will arrange included mainland UK delivery to your door.
