Can you lease a used MG?

Yes. Second Life Leasing offers pre-leased MG cars for personal and business leasing in the UK, with full maintenance and premium replacement tyres included. Explore our current MG stock for individual cars, photographs and available lease options.

You choose a specific car with its own photographs, specification and recorded mileage. Pay an initial rental followed by monthly rentals, then return the car at the agreed end. Applications are subject to approval.

Where does my MG come from?

Second Life Leasing’s MG cars come directly from Lex Autolease, part of Lloyds Banking Group, after their first lease. Lex continues to own the car and offers it for another lease. We help you choose and arrange it; your hire agreement is with Lex Autolease.

A first lease with a known history

Lex bought the car from new and managed its first lease, with agreed mileage, servicing and return standards. That gives your next MG a known leasing history. The individual listing and vehicle information tell you about the particular car you are considering.

Safety checks and preparation

Each car goes through safety checks and preparation for its next driver. It is still a used car, and we will highlight known minor cosmetic imperfections before you decide, so you can picture what will arrive.

What are the current MG lease prices?

The car you choose, contract term, annual mileage and payment profile all affect the rental. Compare the initial payment as well as the monthly figure when deciding what fits your budget.

Which MG model and version should you choose?

MG4: a compact electric hatchback

Start with the MG4 if you want an electric hatchback for commuting, shopping and weekend trips. The original UK range offered 51kWh and 64kWh batteries, with rear-wheel drive, as MG’s launch specification explains. SE and Trophy describe equipment; Standard Range and Long Range identify a different battery choice. Read both parts of the derivative.

A Long Range car is worth comparing if you regularly travel further between charges. If most journeys are local and you can plug in at home, look at the whole quote before automatically choosing the larger battery. The rental, charging routine and equipment need to make sense together.

MG4 XPOWER: performance is a separate choice

XPOWER adds a dual-motor powertrain, rather than merely more equipment. MG identifies that distinction in its MG4 range explanation. Choose it because the performance appeals to you, then check insurance and the particular car’s wheel and tyre specification. A familiar MG4 shape does not make XPOWER equivalent to a rear-wheel-drive SE for everyday costs.

MG5: the estate option

The MG5 offers a conventional estate body, making it a useful comparison if your usual load includes a dog crate, work equipment or holiday luggage. Look at the length and shape of the load floor and rear opening, rather than assuming an SUV will always be more useful.

There are earlier and refreshed MG5 designs. MG introduced the refreshed UK estate in late 2022. An Exclusive and a later Trophy should be compared on their own dashboard, equipment and charging specification; sharing the MG5 name does not make their interiors identical.

ZS EV: a raised seat with a battery choice

The ZS EV is the SUV alternative to an MG4 hatchback or MG5 estate. The refreshed range includes standard and Long Range battery choices. Compare the full derivative before interpreting an SE or Trophy badge: the trim and battery answer different questions.

For family use, try the rear access and the boot with your normal kit. If a higher seating position is your main reason for choosing an SUV, establish whether the individual ZS feels right before paying more for a different body solely because it is newer.

MGS5 EV: a newer SUV generation

The MGS5 EV is a separate model from the ZS EV. It uses MG’s Modular Scalable Platform, first used for MG4. The later Trophy Long Range gives you a newer SUV to compare, but compare the actual controls, rear-seat accommodation and charge specification rather than transferring ZS features to it.

IM5: a larger electric saloon

The MG IM5 sits in a different category from the compact MG4. Its long, low saloon body and Performance version suit someone looking for a more substantial electric car. Consider getting in and out, the space around your parking place and how its luggage access works for you. Performance and extensive technology are useful only if they are features you want to live with.

Choose the equipment you will use

On an earlier MG, compare the actual screen and buttons, smartphone connection, parking camera and heating controls with your daily routine. On a newer MGS5 or IM5, take time over the interface rather than assuming a familiar badge means familiar controls. Confirm fitted equipment and charging accessories for the specific vehicle.

Equipment and charging specifications can change during production. Confirm the manufacturer’s specification, fitted options, cables and any connected-service subscriptions for the actual car before ordering; registration year and trim name alone do not tell the whole story.

What comes with my MG lease?

Second Life Leasing’s full maintenance package brings the routine upkeep into your lease, helping you plan for more than the rental alone.

Servicing, maintenance and premium replacement tyres

Servicing, maintenance, replacement tyres and MOT when required are included. Replacement tyres are premium brands, with mobile fitting where possible. Collection and return for servicing and maintenance are included, subject to limitations.

Breakdown cover and road fund tax

Breakdown cover includes a replacement vehicle for up to 48 hours if needed, plus cover for driving abroad. Check the overseas arrangements with Lex before travelling. Road fund tax is included for the duration of your lease.

Online support

The Lex Vehicle Leasing app gives you a way to book servicing, request support and find your contract documents. Use the lease company’s support route for your maintained agreement.

What do I pay for separately?

Allow for insurance and fuel or charging. Your quote and agreement also explain applicable fees and contract charges, including excess mileage and damage charges. Included maintenance helps with budgeting without making every motoring cost fixed.

What happens if my MG develops a fault?

Contact Lex Autolease through its support process. Under Second Life Leasing’s full maintenance offering, Lex arranges covered repairs in line with your agreement, so you have a clear route to getting help.

Does the manufacturer’s warranty matter?

Where a manufacturer’s warranty applies, Lex handles the claim behind the scenes. Your repair support follows the maintained lease agreement; you do not need to work out the remaining manufacturer’s warranty before reporting a problem.

What about an electric MG’s battery?

Our pre-leased battery-electric MG cars come with a guaranteed minimum battery condition of 85% at delivery. That is a delivery baseline, rather than a guarantee throughout the lease or a promise of a particular driving range.

Can I choose the term and mileage?

Yes. Each car’s listing shows its available contract terms, annual mileage allowances and payment profiles. Choose mileage around your normal year, including commuting, business journeys and holidays.

The payment profile determines how much you pay initially and in subsequent rentals. Choose a term you are comfortable committing to, and review the agreement’s provisions and charges for changing or ending it early.

Personal or business leasing?

You can apply for Personal Contract Hire in your own name or Business Contract Hire for your business. The live examples in this guide are personal rentals including VAT, even if you are browsing in Business mode. Select Business to explore business prices on the stock pages, or ask us for the appropriate quote.

Why choose a pre-leased MG?

More of the car you want within your budget

MG offers a useful body-style choice: a compact hatchback, an estate for longer loads, raised-seat SUVs or a larger saloon. A pre-leased MG has already been through its initial depreciation. Leasing it at its used value can mean a lower rental than leasing new, with the individual quote showing what that means for your chosen car. You can put the rental alongside your other regular costs and decide whether the whole package works for you.

Giving an electric MG another lease of life

Choosing a pre-leased battery-electric MG keeps an existing car and its battery in use. Battery-electric MG cars produce no tailpipe emissions while driving. Manufacturing and charging electricity still contribute to their overall footprint.

UK government guidance explains that a typical electric car has lower lifetime greenhouse-gas emissions than an equivalent petrol car, including battery production and disposal. That is general EV evidence, rather than a measured saving for an individual used MG.

A scheduled return without finding a buyer

At the agreed end, return the MG subject to the mileage and condition terms. Lex owns and resells it and takes the resale-value risk. You can choose your next car without arranging a private sale or negotiating a part-exchange.

How do I arrange my MG lease?

  1. Tell us which MG interests you. We will help you choose from the available cars and confirm the details that matter to you.
  2. Review your quote. We will place a temporary reservation while you look through the figures.
  3. Complete the paperwork online. We will guide you through the credit application and your agreement with Lex Autolease.
  4. Take delivery. Once your application is approved and the car is ready, we will arrange included mainland UK delivery to your door.
