Can you lease a used Volkswagen?
Yes. Second Life Leasing offers pre-leased Volkswagen cars for personal and business leasing in the UK, with full maintenance and premium replacement tyres included. Explore Volkswagen stock if you are comparing a small electric hatchback, a family ID. model or a plug-in hybrid.
You choose a specific car with its own photographs, specification and recorded mileage. Pay an initial rental followed by monthly rentals, then return the car at the agreed end. Applications are subject to approval.
Where does my Volkswagen come from?
Second Life Leasing’s Volkswagen cars come directly from Lex Autolease, part of Lloyds Banking Group, after their first lease. Lex continues to own the car and offers it for another lease. We help you choose and arrange it; your hire agreement is with Lex Autolease.
A first lease with a known history
Lex bought the car from new and managed its first lease, with agreed mileage, servicing and return standards. That gives your next Volkswagen a known leasing history. The individual listing and vehicle information tell you about the particular car you are considering.
Safety checks and preparation
Each car goes through safety checks and preparation for its next driver. It is still a used car, and we will highlight known minor cosmetic imperfections before you decide, so you can picture what will arrive.
What are the current Volkswagen lease prices?
The car you choose, contract term, annual mileage and payment profile all affect the rental. Compare the initial payment as well as the monthly figure when deciding what fits your budget.

Which Volkswagen model and version should you choose?
e-up! and ID.3: two different small-car choices
The e-up! is worth considering for local trips when a small footprint is the priority. It is a compact electric city car with four seats, so check the passenger count before comparing it with a larger hatchback. The later battery version should be assessed on its own specification rather than an early e-up!’s figures.
The ID.3 offers a larger five-door hatchback body and a broader battery choice. Early cars include 45kWh and 58kWh versions, while later Pure and Pro S specifications changed again. Volkswagen’s original ID.3 information is useful for distinguishing the earlier generation. Confirm the number of seats on a specific Pro S rather than assuming every ID.3 has an identical rear-seat arrangement.
ID.4: an electric family SUV
The ID.4 is the comparison if you want the ID. format in an SUV body. Separate smaller-battery Pure versions from larger-battery Pro cars, then check whether the car is rear-wheel drive or a dual-motor 4MOTION/GTX. Those distinctions are more useful than choosing from the equipment grade alone.
The later 210kW Pro uses a revised rear motor, so an earlier 150kW Pro Performance is not the same specification. Compare boot access and rear-seat room with your usual family load, then the exact battery and charging capability for your journeys.
ID.7: a lower alternative for longer journeys
The ID.7 Pro is a fastback with a large rear opening, rather than an SUV. It is worth considering if you prefer a lower seating position but still want useful luggage access. Volkswagen lists a 532-litre boot for the fastback.
Check its length against your driveway and usual parking space, and try rear access with the front seats set correctly. Keep fastback and Tourer estate specifications separate: the name ID.7 alone does not establish the body or its luggage capacity.
ID. Buzz: passenger access and a different loading shape
The passenger ID. Buzz is the one to explore when carrying people and bulky kit matters more than a conventional car silhouette. Its two sliding side doors are a useful distinction when loading children in a tight parking bay.
Confirm the seating layout and body length of the actual car. A passenger Life Pro is a different proposition from an ID. Buzz Cargo van, and a newer long-wheelbase model should not set your expectations for an earlier car. Check garage height and the space needed behind it for the tailgate.
Golf: eTSI, eHybrid and GTE mean different things
A Golf eTSI is a mild hybrid; it does not plug in. The Golf eHybrid and GTE combine petrol with a rechargeable battery, with GTE providing a more performance-focused version of that idea. Volkswagen’s 2020 hybrid comparison separates the early powertrains.
The 2024 plug-in update changed from a 1.4-litre to a 1.5-litre petrol engine, with a larger battery and revised charging. Do not transfer that newer car’s electric range or charging capability to a 2022 1.4 eHybrid or GTE. Regular charging is central to making either plug-in generation useful.
Passat eHybrid: an estate with plug-in flexibility
The newer Passat 1.5 eHybrid estate is worth comparing if your normal load calls for a longer luggage area than a Golf. Its new-generation plug-in system is distinct from the older Passat GTE.
Try the estate opening with your usual equipment, then decide whether you can charge regularly enough to use the electric side of the powertrain. R-Line describes an equipment and styling choice; it does not turn the Passat into a fully electric car.
Choose the equipment you will use
Pure, Pro and Pro S need to be read alongside the battery and model year; Life, Family, Match and Style are equipment names. GTX and 4MOTION identify different performance or drive choices again. Check the actual seats, cameras, winter equipment and software rather than assuming the same badge means the same features across ID.3, ID.4 and ID.7.
Equipment and charging specifications can change during production. Confirm the manufacturer’s specification, fitted options, cables and any connected-service subscriptions for the actual car before ordering; registration year and trim name alone do not tell the whole story.

What comes with my Volkswagen lease?
Second Life Leasing’s full maintenance package brings the routine upkeep into your lease, helping you plan for more than the rental alone.
Servicing, maintenance and premium replacement tyres
Servicing, maintenance, replacement tyres and MOT when required are included. Replacement tyres are premium brands, with mobile fitting where possible. Collection and return for servicing and maintenance are included, subject to limitations.
Breakdown cover and road fund tax
Breakdown cover includes a replacement vehicle for up to 48 hours if needed, plus cover for driving abroad. Check the overseas arrangements with Lex before travelling. Road fund tax is included for the duration of your lease.
Online support
The Lex Vehicle Leasing app gives you a way to book servicing, request support and find your contract documents. Use the lease company’s support route for your maintained agreement.
What do I pay for separately?
Allow for insurance and fuel or charging. Your quote and agreement also explain applicable fees and contract charges, including excess mileage and damage charges. Included maintenance helps with budgeting without making every motoring cost fixed.
What happens if my Volkswagen develops a fault?
Contact Lex Autolease through its support process. Under Second Life Leasing’s full maintenance offering, Lex arranges covered repairs in line with your agreement, so you have a clear route to getting help.
Does the manufacturer’s warranty matter?
Where a manufacturer’s warranty applies, Lex handles the claim behind the scenes. Your repair support follows the maintained lease agreement; you do not need to work out the remaining manufacturer’s warranty before reporting a problem.
What about an electric Volkswagen’s battery?
Our pre-leased battery-electric Volkswagen cars come with a guaranteed minimum battery condition of 85% at delivery. That is a delivery baseline, rather than a guarantee throughout the lease or a promise of a particular driving range.
Can I choose the term and mileage?
Yes. Each car’s listing shows its available contract terms, annual mileage allowances and payment profiles. Choose mileage around your normal year, including commuting, business journeys and holidays.
The payment profile determines how much you pay initially and in subsequent rentals. Choose a term you are comfortable committing to, and review the agreement’s provisions and charges for changing or ending it early.
Personal or business leasing?
You can apply for Personal Contract Hire in your own name or Business Contract Hire for your business. The live examples in this guide are personal rentals including VAT, even if you are browsing in Business mode. Select Business to explore business prices on the stock pages, or ask us for the appropriate quote.
Why choose a pre-leased Volkswagen?
More of the car you want within your budget
Volkswagen lets you choose around the body you need as well as the powertrain, from a compact hatchback to a large estate or passenger-focused ID. Buzz. A pre-leased Volkswagen has already been through its initial depreciation. Leasing it at its used value can mean a lower rental than leasing new, with the individual quote showing what that means for your chosen car. You can put the rental alongside your other regular costs and decide whether the whole package works for you.
Giving an electric Volkswagen another lease of life
Choosing a pre-leased battery-electric Volkswagen keeps an existing car and its battery in use. Battery-electric Volkswagen cars produce no tailpipe emissions while driving. Manufacturing and charging electricity still contribute to their overall footprint.
UK government guidance explains that a typical electric car has lower lifetime greenhouse-gas emissions than an equivalent petrol car, including battery production and disposal. That is general EV evidence, rather than a measured saving for an individual used Volkswagen.
A scheduled return without finding a buyer
At the agreed end, return the Volkswagen subject to the mileage and condition terms. Lex owns and resells it and takes the resale-value risk. You can choose your next car without arranging a private sale or negotiating a part-exchange.
